Willingness-To-Pay for Protecting Endangered Environments The Case of Nechsar National Park

“In this study, it was tried to estimate people’s willingness-to-pay to protect the park and identify its determinants. The study used dichotomous choice contingent valuation method. Using a bivariate probit model, it was found that the local community is willing to protect the park by contributing either in terms of money or labour. It was also found that the respondents’ mean
willingness-to-pay is significantly influenced by the nature of their primary activity, dependency ratio and distance from the park. However, age, gender and the level of education of the respondents were found to be insignificant.”
