The Real Exchange Rate and Ghana’s Agricultural Exports

“This study examines the effects of the real exchange rate of the cedi on agricultural price incentives and agricultural exports in Ghana. It is divided into six sections. The problem which motivated this study, the study’s objectives and relevance, and a review of the literature are formally stated in Section II. In Section III, the time profiles of the real exchange rate of the
cedi, agricultural price incentives, and Ghana’s agricultural exports are described. The econometric models for analysing the linkages between the real exchange rate of the cedi, agricultural price incentives, and agricultural exports, are specified and the procedures for estimating and testing hypotheses about the relevant parameters are presented in Section IV. Empirical analyses of the effects of the real exchange rate on agricultural price incentives are undertaken
in Section V. The effects of the real exchange rate on agricultural exports are
studied in Section VI. Finally, conclusions are contained in Section VII.”
