The not so brave new world! Problems and prospects of regional integration in Post-Apartheid Southern Africa

This report describes regional economic integration in post-apartheid Southern Africa. Various problems in the SADCC region are evaluated, and assumptions about the South African economy are explored, including future growth and redistribution options. The SADCC and PTA are assessed, and the report lists areas of future collaboration and the possible structure of a Southern African economic community. It concludes that the economic survival of Southern Africa depends on the ability of its governments to harmonize their economic policies.
