“This paper seeks to identify the extent to which market distortions have occurred in the beef and maize sub-sectors in Botswana. The paper further analyses the possible effects of liberalization on these two sub-sectors in terms of who is likely to win or lose. The paper takes a broad view of liberalization which encompasses both multilateral market liberalization and internal market liberalization policies that affect these two sectors. Although, Botswana has not yet been placed under the Structural Adjustment programme, she has programmes that seek to liberalise her internal markets.”
