“This study set out to explore the following broad objectives: Identification of technological problems facing artisanal mining; which includes current techniques and equipment used in mining and beneficiation, geological information, appropriate mining and processing tools, existing capacity for fabrication of working tools, strategies for improving miners’ knowledge and skills. Exploration of socio-economic aspects related to artisanal mining and their inter relationship with technological issues identified with the above mentioned issues.”
