The Growth of Micro and Small, Cluster Based Furniture Manufacturing Firms and their Implications for Poverty Reduction in Tanzania

“The overall objective of this study is to explore the growth of micro and small furniture-manufacturing firms in the industrial clusters and to analyse the implications that this growth has for poverty
reduction among firm owners and workers. The specific objectives are four fold: (i) To identify the socioeconomic characteristics that prevail among the owners of furniture firms and their workers and to identify how these characteristics influence firm growth within the industrial clusters; (ii) To analyse growth dynamics of furniture manufacturing firms in the industrial clusters; (iii) To indentify inter-firm relationship mechanisms and explain the ways in which these mechanisms support or weaken the growth of clustered furniture-manufacturing firms; (iv) To identify challenges constraining the growth of furniture firms within the industrial clusters.”
