Survey of Electoral Sytems and Reform Imperatives in the SADC Region

“This study reveals that although much progress has been registered since the early 1990’s, a variety of democracy deficits still bedevil efforts towards democratic consolidation. These include, among others, the form and content of electoral systems in place in the region. The major observation in this paper therefore is that SADC countries have to make deliberate efforts to review and re-design their electoral systems if democratic governance is to be entrenched and institutionalized.”
