South-South Economic Co-operation: The India-Brazil-South Africa Case

“This report is aimed at identifying barriers to trade and investment flows among India, Brazil, and SA – the IBSA countries – and finding ways in which these can be reduced or eliminated This report comprises six sections. Section 1 creates a context for the discussion by briefly highlighting the importance of expanding South-South trade in the global economy. Section 2 reviews current trade and investment relations among the IBSA countries. Section 3 outlines the purpose of the project in greater detail. Section 4 sets out the methods used to gather the data for this study. Section 5 presents the findings of a survey of SA companies and policy-makers. Section 6 makes some recommendations, aimed at the governments and business sectors of the three IBSA countries, for removing remaining impediments to trade and investment among them.”
