This International Affairs Bulletin contains articles by various authors as well as book reviews and is devoted to one topic, South Africa's relationship with the United nations, and is intended to mark the UN's fortieth anniversary. Sara Pienaar’s article describes the difference between South Africa’s membership in the League of Nations and later in the United Nations. John Barratt’s article describes the contrast between South Africa’s current status in the United Nations and at the beginning of the organization. Gerhard Erasmus’s article discusses the relationship between white South Africans and the United Nations. David Tothill’s article discusses South Africa’s relationship with the United Nations during the last forty years.
