Peace-keeping in Rwanda

The current campaign of violence in Rwanda is a continuation of previous ethnic conflicts between the Hutu and Tutsi groups. Currently the ethnicity is not the only reason for this violence as it is also directed towards moderate elements in the Hutu government. This is leading to a refugee problem in the neighbouring countries that could influence security in the region. This paper therefore discusses the ethnic problem in Rwanda and the problems that the UN experience with Peacekeeping missions. However the South African government is not prepared to assist in the peacekeeping mission in Rwanda as the logistics is to staggering to comprehend.
