Mozambique: Threats Posed by the Penetration of Criminal Networks

“This paper focuses on some of the more prominent organised criminal activities that
constitute a threat to Mozambique and does not attempt to cover all forms of organised
crime. The more threatening criminal groups appear to be those involved in transnational organised crime. These are groups and networks whose members and criminal activities are not confined to Mozambique, but that also extend to other countries including Portugal, Brazil, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates,Dubai and South Africa. Among the more prominent of these groups are those that are linked to drug trafficking, money laundering, trafficking in human organs, stolen motor vehicles, illegal firearms, and the obstruction of justice.”
