Limits to Supporting Security Sector Interventions in the DRC

Since 2003, the international community has invested considerable resources in
keeping the peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This paper looks at the ways in which the armed forces and local community interact. It also examines the technical efforts from the international community in their support of the GoDRC to re-establish its authority in the eastern provinces. Political considerations to support security and stabilisation are highlighted.
