Issues and Challenges of Measurement of Health: Implications for Economic Research

“Several objectives or perspectives are distinguished in the measurement of health. They would concern: 1)Public Health – where it will be essential to assess the level of a population’s health status, to compare its level and its trend over the time within a specific country or between different countries.2)The monitoring progress towards the health MDGs.3)The assessment of the effects of economic programmes on health. 4)The economic research in relation with health questions which will be concerned with valid and relevant health status measurement. 5)The ethical consideration. Beyond the economic aspect of health inequalities, the reduction of this inequality matters.”
