Interdependence and transition: the cases of South Africa and Northern Ireland

Professor Adrian Guelke in his lecture compare the Northern Ireland situation with the South African situation. In both societies parallel lines can be found with regard to political boundaries, racism and democracy. The position of the Protestants in Northern Ireland is comparable with that of Afrikaners and the position of the Catholics to that of Africans. Numerous comparisons can be made on political front but this must not be exaggerated but could well heave an effect on international relations
