The first article in this issue ” Peacebuilding through federalism: a road half-travelled in Ethiopia” attempts to discuss the synergy between Ethiopian federalism and its’ peacebuilding projects by reflecting on the 20 years of political praxis. The second article ” Kenya: Devolution and prospects for peace” discusses the new Kenyan Constitution passed in August 2010. It further discusses the expectations of the devolved government and how this devolution can address the ethnic problems in Kenya. The last article titled “Federalism amid political and military chaos in Somalia” tackle the issue of state -building in Somalia as a result of the 2012 constitution and how religion and control of internal and external resources hinders a political settlement.
