Global Warming and Health: The Issue of Malaria in Eastern Africa’s Highlands

“Discussion on various aspects of global warming has been intense but disjointed. This paper synthesizes the discussion that deals with the nature of and relationship between global warming and malaria. It draws
on empirical materials in the East Africa Highlands, broadly defined, to
clarify the nexus between global warming and malaria epidemics in East Africa, highlight the main points of contention in that discussion, examine the financial limitations that constrain the ability of African governments to effectively deal with global warming-malaria issues, and outline the policy tools available to governments in the East Africa Highlands to address the impact of global warming on malaria.”
