Gender, Women and Electoral Politics in Zimbabwe

“This study seeks to analyze the constitutional and legislative provisions pertaining to the Zimbabwe 2000 parliamentary and 2002 presidential elections and to determine the extent to which they promoted gender equality. The most fundamental principle of democracy is the ability to choose those who will govern through the processes of periodic elections. Moyo notes that committed democrats emphasize the importance of elections especially the influence that citizens can have in the selection and deposition of leaders.”
