“The report unequivocally highlights concern on the inadequecy of the MEC’s performance and the lack of public confidence and trust in the body. Among other issues,the report identifies the lack of a level playing field during the campaign period arising from
the use (abuse) of state resources for the purpose of campaigning by the ruling party, distribution of money at rallies by the ruling party and the biased reporting by the
state owned electronic media and the pervasive influence of the ruling party over the traditional authorities.”
