This report comprises several articles which were written by 4 different authors. Dr Chirwa discussed the “bogus” voter statistics due to a recent feud between the Malawi Electoral Commission and the National Statistical Office. Prof Tsie focused specifically on voter education in Botswana in the runup to the 2004 elections.The role of the IEC in Botswana will also be examined. In Dr Sitoe’s article the rising tensions and increasing violence in election campaigning in Mozambique is discussed. Kabemba discussed the political tension mounting with the upcoming Namibian elections in 2004.
