Eko Atlantic Project – Opinion Papers

This document consists of several opinion papers on the Eko Atlantic project in Lagos, Nigeria. The first paper: “Brief description of the communities threatened by coastal erosion and displacement by Ako Amadi gives the background to the Eko Atlantic city and the communities threatened by this project due to coastal erosion, sea level rise and displacement. The next paper by Prof David Aradeon titled “Eko Lagos city – and the new Eko Atlantic city: a case study in development issues” discusses the development issues around the newly planned city in Lagos and compares it to colonial development. The paper “Eko Atlantic environment Impact assessment legal issues” looks at the consequences of this project on the environment, surrounding communities and international boundaries. “Eko Atlantic City – a sustainable development project for coastal states?” describes best practices from other countries that can influence the planned Eko city in Nigeria.
