Creating Incentives for Green Economic Growth: Green Energy in South Africa

This occasional paper focus on green economic growth with specific reference to green energy. The threat of climate change has directed attention to the central role that energy plays in future interactions between humans and natural resources. Renewable energy resources and green industries should become more competitive in relation to fossil fuels, thus enhancing the attractiveness of investments in the green economy. Economic incentives can create opportunities to accelerate the transition from a high-carbon fossil fuel based economy to a lesser carbon intensive economy.
