Community-Directed Intervention and Healthcare Provision in Nigeria

“Despite massive development of health technologies and commodities for ensuring good health, the health status of populations in African countries, including Nigeria, continue to deteriorate or at best remain stagnant. The community directed intervention (CDI) demonstrates the potentials for increasing access to, and effective utilization of different health interventions. The paper presents case studies of successful application of the CDI strategy. It showed that the effectiveness of the CDI approach is dependent on effective sensitization and mobilization of stakeholders”
