Climate Change and Natural Resources Conflicts in Africa

“The conference aims to address a number of questions such as: How vulnerable are the economies of Africa to the impact of climate variability and change? How are national and regional institutions preparing to adapt to the impact of climate variability and change? How are climate variability and change likely to affect existing traditional norms governing access to, and use and management of natural resources on the continent? Are the environment-related policies in African countries effectively addressing issues pertaining to climate variability and change? The monograph is divided into five sections that correspond to the main themes of the conference. The first part contains a chapter that discusses the link between climate change and human security in Africa by focusing on the role of
the African Union in addressing the impact of climate change in general. Other chapters in this section address the effects of climate change on the human population
in Africa, more specifically around Lake Chad and in Lesotho.”
