Beyond de-mining: Capacity building & socio-economic consequences

“Landmines and unexploded ordnance are a global problem, with more than 80 countries affected. This volume focuses on three major areas: first, national mine action capacities as long-term and sustainable solutions to countries’ landmine problems; second the financial realities of mine clearance; and third, the socio-economic impact of mine clearance. Mine clearance’s future success is inextricably linked to the need for improved co-ordination and planning to ensure the cost-effective use of increasingly limited funding. This includes better management of the demining toolbox and maximisation of the impact of mine clearance on communities”
