Ronald Naluwairo

Dr. Ronald Naluwairo is a Ugandan Lawyer with over 10 years’ experience in policy research and analysis; and teaching at University level.  He is a Senior Research Fellow with ACODE and Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, Makerere University where he also serves as the Deputy Dean (Ag) in charge of graduate studies & administration. Ronald got his Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from Makerere University in 2001. He won the Uganda Law Society Prize for emerging as the second best overall student in his graduating class. In the same year, he joined the Law Development Centre for the Bar Course where he graduated in 2002 with a Diploma in Legal Practice. Again, he emerged second best overall student in his graduating class and won the Uganda Law Society Prize. In 2002, Ronald won the DFID-Cambridge Shared Scholarship (Commonwealth) for his graduate studies at the University of Cambridge where he graduated with a Master of Laws degree (LLM) in 2003. In November 2003, Ronald enrolled as an advocate of the Courts of Judicature in Uganda. In 2008, Ronald won the Mo Ibrahim Governance for Development in Africa PhD Scholarship to undertake his PhD studies at SOAS, University of London. He completed his studies in 2011 and was awarded a PhD in the same year. Over the years, Ronald has taught, supervised and mentored many students at both undergraduate and graduate level. Ronald’s research interests are in the areas of: agro-biodiversity law & policy; military justice & human rights; and governance. He has published many scholarly articles, policy papers and briefs on topical issues in these areas.
