Robert Ame

Robert Ame is Director of the Tshepo Institute for the Study of Contemporary Africa, based at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, where he also teaches courses in Children’s Rights, Youth Justice, Restorative Justice and Transitional Justice, among several others in the disciplines of Human Rights and Criminology.

His research interests in human rights include the implementation of international human rights norms in non-western cultures, Transitional Justice, Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, and Children’s Rights. His work in criminology focuses on the Youth Justice System in Ghana, Sociology of Law, Crimes Against Humanity, and Restorative Justice. Notable publications include: Children’s Rights in Ghana: Rhetoric or Reality? (co-editor) (Lexington Books, February 2011); and Childhoods at the Intersection of the Local and the Global (co-editor) (Palgrave MacMillan, 2012).
