Flora Myamba

Flora Myamba earned her doctorate in sociology at Western Michigan University in April 2009. Her areas of expertise include Applied Social Research, Criminology and Victimology with special focus on programs and the rights of most vulnerable groups particularly women and girls. In addition to research and teaching (university) expertise and practices, Flora brings two years (2009-2011) of experience as a Program Director for a USA- based health program in Arusha, Tanzania, where she was involved in a wide range of activities including research and management roles. She as well has a one year (2011-2012) experience working for The Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) in advisory and capacity building for implementing programs particularly the Tanzania Domestic Biogas Program (TDBP) and its partners prior to joining REPOA in July 2012. Currently, Flora holds the position of Director of Research in Social Protection with the major responsibility of coordinating and supervising all activities under the theme. Flora has/is currently leading research projects on Protecting the Poor and Vulnerable through Conditional Cash Transfer Programs in Tanzania; Towards Achieving Income Security in Old Age through Pension Schemes: Exploring Factors Affecting Coverage and Adequacy; The Impact of Fiscal Policy on Inequality and Poverty in Low-income Countries: Applying the Commitment to Equity (CEQ) Framework to Ghana and Tanzania; and Applied Research Concerning Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Systems of Social Protection. Flora commits to using the best-proven approach for bringing real results and for serving the most marginalized and the poor.
