Elizabeth Smith is a Research Assistant with the SIPRI Climate Change and Risk Programme. Her research focuses on climate change, peacebuilding and gender. Prior to joining SIPRI, Elizabeth was a trainee at a Swiss impact investor. In 2018, she graduated as a member of the inaugural MSc class in Women, Peace and Security at the London School of Economics. There, she was awarded a distinction on her dissertation, which analyzed the potential in and implications of integrating climate change into the Women, Peace and Security Agenda through its National Action Plans. She also holds a BA in Geography from Dartmouth College. During her undergraduate degree, she was part of Dartmouth’s War and Peace Fellows program, interned at an NGO in India focusing on girls’ empowerment, and studied in France and the Czech Republic.
