Zali Bryson Chikuba

Zali Chikuba is a Researcher in charge of Transport and Infrastructure Unit the leading think-tank in Zambia; the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR). He has also served as an associate researcher in the Public Finance and in the Business Development Units of ZIPAR.

While serving in the Public Finance Unit, Zali was seconded to serve as a Technical Coordinator for the Economic Census for Lusaka Province. He also spearheaded the project for the building of the 2007 Social Accounting Matrix which was done in collaboration with United Nations University’s World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). He also initiated major research works at ZIPAR which include alternative poverty measures and a development of a welfare based model for the allocation of constituency development fund.

Before joining ZIPAR, Zali served as the Vice Principle for Palabana Dairy Training Institute. While at the Institute worked to facilitate the interface of research and training. He championed the development new curricula, the implementation of the new training programmes and construction of additional hostels.

Zali holds post-graduate qualifications in the areas of agriculture (2008), finance (2011), and transport (2013). His research interests include public transport, road safety, infrastructure development and financing, energy economics and financial markets. He has published works in the area of Public Finance (Social Accounting Matrix) and Transportation.
