Africa Initiative Exchange Program

The Africa Initiative exchange program has supported short-term academic placements through grants for Africans and Canadians undertaking research on Africa. The program has built capacity by giving bright, highly-motivated students and scholars an opportunity to discover and impart new learning in a cross-cultural experience.

Participants have had the opportunity to further their research through the utilization of on-the-ground resources and research materials, as well as develop international networks with fellow researchers and practitioners conducting work in a relevant field of study. Research results are presented and disseminated through backgrounders and graduate research papers, and are also included in the Africa Portal's Blog. Visit the Student Profiles page to learn more about this dynamic group of individuals.

As of December 2013, the Exchange Program has concluded; no further calls for applications will be issued.  See the Africa Initiative site for information about its new programming.
